Winter Inspiration

It snowed this weekend, the first time this year, (and possibly the last), so I couldn't resist taking a few photos. These or some variation of them may end up on canvas soon. I took these this morning but wish I'd taken more photos yesterday while the snow was falling. I really like the contrast of dark grey clouds against the white ground when it's snowing. I especially like walking through the woods while snow's falling. The snow against the dark tree trunks make is seem like you've stepped into a black and white photograph. As much as I like to use bright colors in my paintings, I really appreciate B&W and neutral colors too. Anyway, yesterday it was around 20 degrees with wind and sleet blowing around, so I passed on the photo shoot. ( yes, that was wimpy). If it snows again, I'll do better.

New Year - New Blog!

I've been thinking of blogging for awhile now and decided to finally start this year. I've been hesitant to blog before due to basic laziness and procrastination and also because I didn't want to bore readers with the minutiae of my day. On the other hand, this seems like a fun way to keep you updated on what's going on in the studio. I'll be posting updates on upcoming exhibits and give you a preview of works in process. Most posts will be art related but I'll probably throw in a few random posts and photos too. Stay tuned!
